A kink in the story

September 23, 20212 min read

I was OBSESSED with drug addicts.

When i was a teenager, I wrote all my school papers about Jim Morrison of the Doors. I voraciously read every single piece of literature he wrote or books and stories about his life and his very unusual proclivities.

Devouring stories about girls with anorexia and was so taken by the story of Karen Carpenter as an adolescent.

Yet, I didn't drink. I still don't really. Dark chocolate is my vice, if you really want to know. 🍫

I never did drugs (except for some random experiments during Grateful Dead sessions in college).

I didn't have any experience with eating disorders. My disordered eating started WAY later. Like after I was 40. But that's for another post-

Aaaanyway, my curiosity for people looking for alternative ways to cope has always been strong.

I've been studying a lot lately about communities, cults, and tribes.

And the deep social need to belong.

And one community I didn't know a lot about was the BDSM one. You know, Bondage Domination Sadism and Masochism. Kink!

And I interviewed repeat guest of Culture Changers, Chris Schembra - who is the CEO of a very successful company called 7:47.

In a surprising twist, Chris is very publicly and proudly part of the BDSM community.

I had so many questions about WHY and what it's about and was stunned to find out it's incredibly common in the upper echelons of executive leaders worldwide.

I'm not going to lie - this is the CA-RAZIEST interview I've ever done.

Let's just say that Chris got into character.

And I walked away with an entirely new perspective.

You will not be able to turn this episode off.
