Decoding your kids WILD mood swings

Decoding your kids WILD mood swings

Middle school was a really bummer time for me.

I don't remember what made it so sad - I just remember feeling so heavy and wishing I could just be me - whoever ME was becoming.

I had zits galore, summer teeth (sum'mer here sum'mer there, sum'mer missing 🤣 🦷 ), awful Jersey big-ass hair, a completely deeeeep thinker, and a sarcastic and sharp attitude. #winning

When I would get bullied, my mom's go-to response in her toolbox was only "they're just jealous." (um, what?)

I was literally grounded from ages 13-17.

And I once called my dad a jerk and he was so mad at my disrespect, my mom sent me to Italy for a month.

While I wasn't mad at the Italy 🇮🇹 trip (my aunt married an Italian so spending a summer in Rome was a pretty awesome punishment), I never felt like anyone got me.

Now that I am a mom and watching my highly-sensitive son enter middle school and my quirky daughter navigates fourth grade in a conservative school, needing a better parenting toolbox is numero uno.

I know you feel this, too.

We want to connect with our kids and support them in their growth.

We want to protect them from harm and pain - and for all that is holy, let them have an open door to us.

And also, is there any world where I won't be that screaming mad raging-ass b*tch mom who won't calm down???

Prob not.

But there's a good chance that everything we learned about raising kids is completely backwards. And that's what it's SO hard and painful.

And with some thoughtful adjustments and intentional approaches, betting on your kid growing up to be the awesome adult you know they are capable of - it's right here.

Cindy Robinson - Late Learner Podcast

Today, we are revisiting one of the most downloaded, MOST SHARED, and most responses from any podcast episode I've ever done.

Once again, Cindy Robinson, highly-respected parent and teen coach, is breaking down how to understand and engage with your adolescent.

And one promise I make to you, this is a completely counter-intuitive approach AND it actually works.

xo,

Allison
