If my mom knew about this...
I would DIE before I would do a podcast mini-series on sex when my mom was alive.
Not because she would judge. In fact, she'd probably be amused.
But because I didn't want her to ever think of ME thinking about sex. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I wonder about our mommy/daddy issues and how much they can propel us forward or hold us back.
Ever since my mom died in June, I feel like I've been breaking down.
I've been so burned out from parenting/podcasting/work/life/death/emotions/self-imposed expectations/everything, that I didn't think I had it in me to keep running 2 podcasts on top of everything else.
And then this past August, I got a spark. ⚡️✨
Just a teeny spark of an idea that I could re-brand Culture Changers Podcast into a series of mini-series(es). Wait, is that a word? Is that even a proper sentence?
Anyway, I wanted to tackle the biggest and most important topics of our time. But more boldly. More edgy and way more provocative.
If we don't bravely talk about the fears, psychology, underbelly, motives, resistance of what makes us who we are...you know, our beliefs on politics, money, sex, race, religion, science, FUN, what makes us laugh or be jealous or hurt or cry....really our deepest held beliefs, then are we just hiding?
But what if you could bring your whole self out into the public world? Or begin to see people in a new light?
What could be possible for you if your perspective was shifted?
Behold, EPISODE 💯 (YES, 100!!!!!) IS HERE! 💥💥💥💥
As we kick off the sex series (you've got to hear the opening of this episode! It will make your toes curl), I talk to Felicia Julien about sex after sexual trauma and sex positivity (including porn, mental health, self-expression, ethical non-monogamy), I mean WOW!.
It definitely has a trigger warning so listen with discretion - but know that you will come away with a much greater understanding and maybe some new ideas for your own life. Email me back here or DM me at @allison__hare and let me know how this episode may have shifted what you thought. I promise, it will!
Listen here:
As always, thanks for being on this journey with me.
xo,
Allison
P.S. I'm thinking about doing the next mini-series on Belonging and Self Worth. You into it? You know anyone who specializes in this that I could interview?
P.P.S. Speaking of self-worth, have you seen the fem anti-hero bingeworthy series, Physical? Whoa. OBSESSED!
