Triggers and traumas - BE GONE!

October 05, 20232 min read

There he is. Standing right at the end of the aisle.

You weren't expecting it. It's been years. All of a sudden, your body starts to shake.

Your eyes are seeing red. Your stomach instantly ties up into knots.

Do you run? Your body freezes and you feel the beads form on your forehead.

Your heart is pounding out of your chest. You need to get the hell out of there NOW.

It's a crazy feeling when your body feels hijacked.

Your mind's job is to keep you safe. And when threat shows up, everything is on high alert.

And it's not only big things. It can be very real in many, many forms.

PsychCentral defines triggers as: sensory reminders that cause painful memories or certain symptoms to resurface.

I have MAJOR triggers over some weird stuff like:

  • overly eager people

  • Debbie Downers

  • The terms She-EO or mompreneur 🤢 (don't even get me started on edutainer and boss babe)

  • Passive-aggressive comments (technically, you could argue this list is a passive-aggressive list, but hey, it's my blog soooooo...🤷‍♀️)

  • gum smacking

  • cabinets left WIDE open

And on today's episode of Late Learner podcast, we discuss a newer breakthrough therapy that has the power to remove the DEEPEST triggers in as little as ONE session.

Yes, big-a$s triggers GONE in one shot!

It's called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and my guest is licensed therapist, author, and educator, Laurel Wiers.

And I'm embarrassed to admit it, but there's one trigger I've been struggling with and it puzzles me to no end.

Alpha males.

And I didn't know why - but during our talk, Laurel got to the root of it using her approach LIVE.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • What is Accelerated Resolution Therapy? How is it effective without even having to share about your traumatic event?

  • How can memory reconsolidation help heal your triggers and trauma?

  • One of my trigger sources gets processed in real-time!

  • The power of bilateral stimulation

  • Ways to calm our nervous system

  • How to reset after a negative event.

  • Healing from trauma.

  • How to find therapy options.

Since part of this is visual, I wanted to make sure you could SEE this happening in real time.
