Why Spontaneity Might Be Your Best Self-Care Move

🎼 "What good is livin' the life you've been given if all you do is stand in one place?" - Ends of the Earth by Lord Huron 🎶

Could going to a concert change your life?

A spontaneous decision to see Lord Huron perform at the iconic natural amphitheater in Colorado, Red Rocks last week has sparked something new.

TLDR: The show was totally sold out. We got affordable front-row tickets from the box office on the day of the show. Magic and miracles are everywhere in Morrison, CO. ✨ 💫 🌟

I haven't seen live music in a ridiculously long time. It's been a hard season (for more, read last week's post).

When caught in the mess and the stress, it's even more important to permit yourself to do something healthy and free - even for a moment.

Need quick ideas? Try this.

It's easy to convince yourself that you just can't break away and take care of yourself. Too much to do. Everything is urgent. Everyone needs something from you.

But let this be a permission slip for you to take a moment right now - take a deep breath in, 🧘 let it out, put your hand on your heart, ❤️ and choose to do something kind for you. ✨

What can you do right now that would feel good?

So back to Red Rocks - the music was HITTING, the air was perfect, the amazing friends I was with were in complete awe, and I just danced and couldn't stop smiling.

All of this is sensory. But here's the key for you - when you focus on having sensory experiences - you can take pieces of it with you and revisit it long after you've gone.

For me this week, it's listening to Lord Huron's music. Instant vacation.

And speaking of vacations, I've been thinking about how F-A-S-T Summer rolls by and it can be a total blur - even though you've taken great care to schedule summery things - it's still on top of work, commitments, responsibilities, kids, etc.

Let's make this summer lassssssstttt, okay?

On today's episode of Late Learner Podcast, I put together 3 simple ways to sloooow summer down and really enjoy it.

P.S. Did you know the #1 way to experience AWE isn't nature, it's witnessing kindness. Here is a little dose for you that had me smiling from ear-to-ear.

PPS. Still reeling from my beloved Reb3l dance community showing OUT at Strength in the City fitness showcase in Denver last week.
