There are a few things I really miss about working in the corporate world:

• Cool people 😎 (well, some of them 😉).

• Steady paycheck

• Incentive trips

• Being part of an empowered team

• Great leaders (I had some REALLY great ones - if you are reading this and you were one of them, THANK YOU)

Here are a few things I DON'T miss:

• Obligatory happy hours (I don't drink 🍻; felt like I had to hide this)

• Hosting clients at big fancy sports events (I don't give a flying F about sports)

• Ineffective leaders (if you are reading this and you were one of them, I'm probably still mad about it) 👿

• Meetings that could have been emails

• Toxic cultures

• Glaring eye when I had to leave early to go get my kids (wtf)

Oops! Got on a roll there. 🧻️

As I reflected back on what I don't miss, the sub-optimal work environments could have been reversed if we had better tools to navigate our relationships at work.

We were taught that business deals happen on the golf course ️⛳️ or bonding over a shot or 7 of whiskey and a nice steak 🥩 at an upscale bar on the corporate card. 💳

Self-doubt used to occupy so much of my headspace about how to be better at my job. After all, I avoided this path because it was so draining.

But here's the best news...

THE GAME HAS CHANGED when it comes to work relationships. It's been updated. Rebooted. Reworked.

People crave feeling safe enough to braid their true selves with their work selves without fear of losing credibility, their job, etc., and creating more human relationships with the people they spend so much time with.
